DESCRIPTION OF TOUR

Every day we will do a short Italian lesson (1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon) … and you will be able to practice all day long 😉 I taught Italian Language and Literature while living abroad, and being able to do it on my turf is a dream come true.

Hamlets, coastal landscapes, and castles will be the setting of this off the beaten path adventure.

DAY 1

DAY 1 Pescara and Atri

Morning Pescara, the beating heart of Abruzzo

Pescara is the biggest city in Abruzzo. Lively and colorful, it is famous for its beaches and its nightlife but it is also the perfect place for shopping. Here you can find the best shops of Italian brands and have the best gelato of your life. We’ll have a city tour and then we will sit in one of the many cafés and have our first Italian lesson over a light lunch.

Afternoon Atri: the city of Licorice

We will travel to Atri, a hill town which is famous for its beautiful Cathedral. We will take all the time to “read” and understand the Renaissance paintings inside and then you will taste the local product: licorice.

After that, we’ll stop for a coffee and we’ll have our second Italian lesson in one of the local bars.

DAY 2

DAY 2 Ortona and the Trabocchi Coast

Morning Ortona and its amazing Castle

Imagine a huge Castle overlooking the Adriatic Sea, a beautiful Italian city full of art and sea views, a place where you can find the best Abruzzo wine, well, that’s Ortona. We will have a city tour and then we will stop for lunch in a small restaurant (but before that, we will have our third Italian lesson).

 Afternoon the Trabocchi Coast

After lunch, we will take the Adriatic National Road and we will reach the famous Trabocchi Coast: a protected marine area characterized by many “Trabocchi” (wooden fishing huts). This part of the Abruzzo’s coast has always been the favorite place for writers and painters. You’ll understand why. We will drive then, up to a panoramic hill where we will stop for the visit to the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere. In the end, we will sit in a cafè for a glass of wine or a coffee and for our fourth Italian lesson.

DAY 3

DAY 3 Faith and History

Morning Lanciano and the Eucharistic Miracle

If you are a fan of Italian art and architecture, this is the place for you! Our city tour will touch the main and incredible monuments of this city, hidden in its medieval districts. After a busy morning, we will have our fifth Italian lesson and then stop in a local restaurant for lunch.

 Afternoon Orsogna and its murals

Our next stop will be a town called Orsogna.

This peaceful and picturesque village has recently inaugurated some new murals depicting the local history. We will have a city walk, take some nice pictures at the Majella Mountain and then stop in a local pastry shop to taste some local pastries and have our sixth and last Italian lesson.
